I just skip characters I don't love and get the ones I do with their weapon and maybe one of their supports if I don't dislike that character. But I get the monthly and occasional BP to support the game.

At the very least lupa isn't dependent on her weapon. You can run her with encore until more fusion characters are released that you like.
