I honestly don't know what you mean by "hasn't objectively improved". Technology has absolutely gotten to the point where 3050 clan tech is surpassed. Shit like ATM's, Snub Nosed PPC's, VSP's, when combined with speed movement technologies like partial wings, improved jump jets, and superchargers mean that mechs with shit loads of high accuracy and high damage weapons can both teleport around the battlefield at mach speed, and have sufficient armor to soak large amounts of return fire, most of which won't be hitting due to the crazy movement modifiers you can build. The Jade Phoenix A is probably the most high profile offender in this category. All this to say nothing of the insane melee builds you can make like the Kontio which is impossible to hit at range due to stealth armor and which has triple strength myomer claws that rip you to pieces at close range, to say nothing of it's lasers. Technology has gotten wildly out of control to the point where it isn't fun anymore.
