It's funny because the Calamity is noticeably more intelligent in AOC. Combined with Mecha Ganon, it just sucks that so much cool stuff that happened in BOTW's Hyrule literally exists outside of the game.
That's the thing that bothers me. Why is all the coolest shit not happening in the actual Zelda games? Why can't a Zelda game actually take place during one of these massive conflicts instead of taking place way after the worst has blown over? OOT wanted to do that with the original Imprisoning War but the N64 couldn't make it happen, surely it can happen now after 25+ years of technological advancement. But it doesn't. Seriously, why is Majora's Mask still the only Zelda game where the bad guy's plan to fuck up the world can and will succeed if you let it? Can the modern audience really not handle even the smallest bit of pressure?
