I know it's not the point of the thread, but it's surreal how much the MGS games shaped my life. It's a not-insignificant part of why I joined the army, I looked up and read at least some of each of the authors mentioned in the games, it made me curious about (admittedly midwit) philosophy and history and political theory. I come across as mature and thoughtful but a large part of that is because in my early 20s I was acting out a video game series I played as a teenager created by a scrawny japanese footfag.

I still remember watching the MGSV trailers in college and thinking that MGS was never going to end. Death Stranding is alright but Metal Gear just knew exactly what I wanted.
