You can say that again. I think people are seriously underestimating the level of firepower the average guy is rocking. Think about it. We're more than thirty years removed from the militias. The levels of gear will be mixed but otherwise pretty high. If civil unrest ever seriously impacts the survival of the state, expect some whizz-bang shit to come out of the woodwork. At this point, frankly, expect optical camouflage as a trump card.
Also figure out solutions for problems like dazzlers, especially the IR variety that can fry your eyeballs without you even knowing.

Make a fortress out of a three story trap house next to the other two houses that aren't targets, so bombs can't be used against you.
