I still can barely wrap around the fact that the bosses went from the best lineup in the franchise yet to quite possibly the worst.

Yeah, the Emerald collection shouldn't be THAT mandatory, and this still doesn't save the final bosses.
I wish there's be a new game that learns from both but that's unlikely.
