So basically, the core themes the franchise has preached since day 1 is stuff you ultimately disagree with so strongly you wish to dismantle them and Sonic's character in the process to assert what you personally think is a better lesson?
Anyway, that's the idea that the Sonic series is built on. Sonic was designed with a "get-it-done" attitude as a driving factor in what defines his very essence, and what they present as an admirable trait.
>The very idea that wishing you had done differently is a bad thing is insane to me in the first place, as that is part of the human experience. Sonic not being able to do that would make him so distanced from an actual person that I couldn't possibly be inspired by him or take any of his advice to heart.
>the "gut feeling" just ends up being subconscious cues from past experiences. The human experience constantly has us trying to combat our instincts with social conditioning.
Sonic is presented as a character whose had countless adventures we never got to see before the series began. He has a lot of life experience that shapes his current wisdom. But ultimately, the core message they want to convey through Sonic is having faith in yourself, and getting things done as fast as possible without wasting precious time. Not in a hasty, shortsighted way, but in a "get up and go" kind of way.
I often think about this a lot because one of my own short comings in life is a failure to act, or constantly worrying about things so much I can never get started properly. Sonic kind of exists to tell people like me to just "do it", because all of my worrying and planning and stress isn't getting me anywhere the more I let it slow me down.
