I can't find the data already calculated for Portugal, so here is the US, but the share of income spend on food is trending to lower and lower, while people are getting in more calories, I'm sure that's true for basically every country on Earth.
Same is true for other household essentials.
Cars are also cheaper now, some particular models might have gotten more expensive but it's not a fair comparison because current models have much more features, if you get a Dacia now it's going to be relatively cheaper that getting a Volkswagen 30 years ago and it's going to be a better car.
