I can accept Pauline being barefoot in her default costume as part of the wilderness aesthetic, but why does she lack shoes in all of her unlockable outfits, even the ones that don't make sense like the cowgirl one or the winter one?

pretty sure opus existed before, but there is a legitimate possibility that nintendo saw the attention pragmata got as a brand new IP (it topped famitsu most wanted lists for months even in the years long stretches without trailers it had) and decided to copy it
I mean, the situation with pauline is a little ridiculous, she doesn't have shoes even in costumes that should logically have them, and the only exception is a non-canon paid DLC outfit meant to emulate grown up pauline
