With the hindsight of CK2, what they should have done is gone back to having a map like CK1's that ended at the eastern border of Persia, with both China and India being off-map powers like China was in CK2. That way the focus is back on the crusades, but I think at this point focusing on what the game is actually about is no longer the point.
