I think the problem is that "luxury" is the new standard. If someone can't get DoorDash 3 times a week, they feel miserable. Meanwhile, if they used that same $60 at the grocery store, they could probably get meals for 5-7 days. If you ignore all of life's "conveniences" and live like people did 15 years ago before everything was at their door step (Amazon, DoorDash, Streaming, etc) then most people would be better off. I'm not saying that they would be able to afford things like we could 15 years ago, but it would be much more tolerable.
