we need to go back to a time where there are no "game engines" that you can just download and start developing a game with. games were better when programmers were forced to have mechanical sympathy with the devices they were developing for. if a game ran poorly in the 90's it was because the devs were bad or were trying to do too much (which most gamers respected). nowadays games run poorly and look and play like shit and people still buy them.

give me an Xbox 720 with a 12-core PowerPC CPU and custom AMD GPU
or a PS6 with a Cell Engine 2 and bespoke RSX GPU
maybe a simple ARM-based console that only plays games, no network stack, no web browser, no media features

our devs are led by retarded managers that no nothing other than to extract wealth from the gamer. it has to stop. return to tradition, get rid of the god damn bloat.
