mine is more (semi)-retirement
my gf is studying to become a vet
I'm a lawfag and already have my own place paid off.
our idea/dream is to settle down in a more rural area where she can work with farm animals, I can do some teleworking and we can do a bit of a homesteading larp.
if you can provide for a good chunk of your own daily needs you don't need much more to live on.
we are also hunters so we could just hunt for our protein but that's pretty time inefficient since there's not much large game around in north west Europe.
As for guinea pigs, I've never had any so I couldn't comet on the taste. but if things go tit's up spices will be hard to come by. A good herb garden might help. But in my experience herbs don't mask tastes nearly as good as spices do.
I'd just go for rabbits or other critters.
one danger with rabbits is if you can't isolate them from wild populations you are going to be at risk of disease.
