>content that promotes violence or "depicts real or realistic serious violence against a person, an animal, or a fictional creature"; content that promotes challenges or stunts that are likely to cause serious injuries; content that encourages people to use harmful substances or substances in harmful quantities; content that shames people based on body type or physical features; and "content that promotes or romanticizes depression, hopelessness and despair."
These are perhaps the most concerning requirements that the Online Safety Act is placing on online platforms.

These requirements are so fucking vague that a HUGE amount of entertainment media from music, to films, to books, to video games would all fall foul of it.

The OSA could mean that you are no longer allowed to purchase a Grand Theft Auto game on Steam without submitting facial verification or photo ID, because you can kill both people and animals in them.

It could also mean you can't stream some old TV series like Skins because it has graphic depictions of anorexia.

It could also mean you can't listen to bands like Joy Division or Nine Inch Nails because they talk openly about suicide in their lyrics. Hell, NIN even has an album with a song on it literally depicting the act of suicide itself in a manner the OSA would definitely deem "promoting or romanticising".

The UK could be stepping towards implementing ultra-draconian restrictions on our internet that not even the fucking Chinese have to deal with. This is unacceptable.

Pretty amazing that a 12-year old game is still massively popular. It's the 3rd most streamed game on Twitch still.
