The term originated from two characters called Meira Hakurei and Seija Kijin who were designed as rivals but later became fan favorites as a couple. People started roleplaying as them and other fictional couples, leading to posts filled with fluff and shipping content, hence the name ""huslo"" coming from a combination of 'homosexual lover'.
