Rap began in the 80s when dudes would start rapping on the corner of the blocks. Producers started sampling shit like Marvin Gaye on a turntable and bam, you have the beats. It was pushed by [government letter agency] in the 90s to destroy the black American, and no I do not care about their plight, that is fact.
If you go back and listen to the old shit, Run DMC, Kool G Rap, Rakim, etc. A lot of it was bragadocious rap, I am better than you listen to me rhyme. Once the gangster era hit, 90s, you had a big push by [ ]. Exactly like the 60s 70s hippie movement. So during the 90s it got infected, basically. And then, because rap is so cheap to produce, you get an explosion of new rappers, pushed by the industry because it is so cheap, and that brings us to the 2000s, the bling bling era. Where it wasn't just about look at my rhymes, it was I am better than you because I have more. And all that just comes down to the niggerification, ironic I know, of rap itself, which I think started in the 2000s. 90s rap has merit, you can say not music but you would be wrong. And now, fuck its all over. Today's rap is absolute horse shit and I fully agree with all the shit you guys say about it. The disease just grew and grew, and the niggerification got worst. But the old stuff, the old stuff is different.
So you ask the appeal? The appeal is lyrical prowess and easy listening. Just like the lofi beats to study too. It was also interesting to learn how niggas grew up with the hood, robbing and cocaine, but rap never moved on from that. You can go listen to somebody like The Geto Boys and feel like your cock was 18 inches long. Or you can go with some more heady shit like Aesop Rock where you HAVE to pay attention to his complex rhyme schemes. I understand hating niggers and not listening to rap, but to say it has no merit or is a truly worthless genre is bull shit. I bet my life I could find a rap album every single one of you would enjoy if given an actual chance.
