>be cop
>drew the short straw and put in a patrol car at a popular cyclist route
>90% of my day is now spent explaining basic cycling laws to motorists as I hand out fines
I'm going to shoot the next person to say "they shouldn't play with their toys on the road!" I swear to fucking god
Why are motorists so bad at basic traffic laws about bikes?

Last week I took my nephew and three of his friends to the park after school.
A woman came up to me and demanded to know who I was. I told her I'm not interested, and I'm busy. She said that they aren't my kids, and demanded to see my ID. I said no, go home and take your pills.
She went off to try to talk to one of the boys and I put my arm between her and the boy, spun him around by his shoulder, and told them we need to leave. Took then to my car and told them that woman was dangerous.
A couple of days later I get a panicked phone call from my sister, with screenshot sent over WhatsApp. The woman had taken pictures of me with the boys and was telling people that there was a pedophile in the park, claiming that I was touching the boys inappropriately, and that I had threatened to kill her. Then she claimed she had called the police and I heard this and physically forced the children into my car while they were screaming.
I had to take a day off work to go to the police and deal with this. They've taken the post down from at least one Facebook community page but this was up for a couple of days and some of my co-workers saw it.
The police have not been very helpful and told me I should have just shown her my ID and that she was just being cautious for the sake of the children. They did have it taken down by contacting the admin of that Facebook group, but they seem to act like them not pressing charges against me is them doing me a favor and I should just be thankful that I'm not being charged with anything. That I might not be so lucky in the future.
Lawyer is seeing me tomorrow, told me over the phone that I shouldn't have spoken to them without him there and he's going to take me back to see the police again on Monday.
