Maybe I'm too cynical because I didn't like superman and I don't trust james gunn, but seeing this already worries me if it's legit. it wouldn't be a coincidence that gunn's brave and the bold project also features robin, so my cynical mind is already imagining a scenario where matt reeves finally got fucked over, constantly kept getting blocked for years and now that james gunn is against the ropes, reeves had to agree to follow gunn's ideas, same way andy muschietti was forced to add all that awful shit for the flash that looked very similar to what gunn did in superman.
This could explain reeves' weird attitude during the superman premiere, and the timing of the announcement of part 2 script being done finally, right as superman was about to get released, at the same time gunn was doing damage control in a variety interview, about the movie not needing to hit 700M to be a success.
One could also interpret this as one of the worse possible scenarios at WB right now, superman flopped internationally and their next big project, supergirl, is guaranteed to do worse, just for being a less known character, so they can't just get rid of the batman, a project that was more successful, but they want to at least control it, and since they're featuring robin, they could fire robert pattinson at the end of part 2 and keep robin's actor for the DCEU, using the multiverse; or sabotage it like with the joker 2 and black adam, so gunn could ultimately destroy it and eventually have his own version to 'correct' the mistakes made in part 2.

james gunn even before the premiere already started doing damage control, 700M seems very unlikely, it'd be a box office result lower the matt reeves batman and even lower than man of steel, so even if WB try to pass this new superman as a success, given the 'barbie-like' marketing, it will be seen as a failure and snydertards will only get vindicated.

james gunn is already doing damage control, it's pretty much guaranteed to underperform at best.
