Maybe I'm too cynical because I didn't like superman and I don't trust james gunn, but seeing this already worries me if it's legit. it wouldn't be a coincidence that gunn's brave and the bold project also features robin, so my cynical mind is already imagining a scenario where matt reeves finally got fucked over, constantly kept getting blocked for years and now that james gunn is against the ropes, reeves had to agree to follow gunn's ideas, same way andy muschietti was forced to add all that awful shit for the flash that looked very similar to what gunn did in superman.
This could explain reeves' weird attitude during the superman premiere, and the timing of the announcement of part 2 script being done finally, right as superman was about to get released, at the same time gunn was doing damage control in a variety interview, about the movie not needing to hit 700M to be a success.
One could also interpret this as one of the worse possible scenarios at WB right now, superman flopped internationally and their next big project, supergirl, is guaranteed to do worse, just for being a less known character, so they can't just get rid of the batman, a project that was more successful, but they want to at least control it, and since they're featuring robin, they could fire robert pattinson at the end of part 2 and keep robin's actor for the DCEU, using the multiverse; or sabotage it like with the joker 2 and black adam, so gunn could ultimately destroy it and eventually have his own version to 'correct' the mistakes made in part 2.

sure, after all, ben affleck got fucked over by matt reeves first, now he's suffering the same treatment from james gunn, poetic justice, one could say. I'm just sad because I'm way more interested in seeing more of the colin farrel's penguin and batman taking him down, than any of james gunn's projects that keep getting changed and feel like more like regular capeslop.

because people don't go to watch movies out of loyalty to the brand anymore, they go in masses only for the 'events', like minecraft or a live action that generates interest, like HTTYD or lilo and stitch, but 'regular' movies like snow white, indiana jones 5, thunderbolts or F4 flop. superman was being shilled hard to be a barbie-like event, but it failed, which is why they're focusing so much on the domestic box office and the retention on its fucking 4th week, therefore, supergirl automatically belongs to that second group as just another movie.

What was her last live action movie? During Reeves era? Its basically barbie at this point. Its an event. A major one.
I think its gonna do better than superman.

>Its basically barbie at this point.
nice delusion, barbie was an event for all the history the brand has with women, with that movie being one of the few to actually get that rare market to show up to the theaters. supergirl is a capeslop character, meaning, a male oriented project, so even during the peak of capeshit, this could have only done as good as wonder woman 1, in our current era, maybe half of what superman is doing right now.

This is from Jeff Sneider, who has a terrible track record.
Anyways, I hope he's right and Robin is in it.
Batman is a silly character and Robin is just as fitting.
To not have Robin would be retarded, seeing as Reeves' world is more comic accurate than Nolan's. Or at least more beholden to imitating an exaggeratedly noir modernity.

Itโ€™s obviously going to be a time jump since itโ€™s been so long since The Batman and Pattinson isnโ€™t getting any younger. If this is true Iโ€™ll give Reeves credit for having the balls to finally bring Robin in instead of playing it safe and predictable which I felt The Batman did

>Itโ€™s obviously going to be a time jump

it was never supposed to be a big time jump.
It was supposed to be batman at his begins. Thats the original pitch. Op is telling you someone is forcing Reeves hands, which makes sense but you are playing dumb.

Superman did poorly in Asia because Trump posted about the movie and people hate America and their pedophiles leaders now, the fact it's one of the best performing movies of the year in the US (only behind two children movies which play on a different league) means it's a hit. Not a success, a hit. With The Batman also being a success (even though it made LESS than the superman in the US, more overseas because they didn't have to deal with the drumpf fallout), DC is set to dominate the capeslop market from now on as long as they manage to link these franchises up

that's coping, if trump was the excuse, the movie would have done abysmally in mexico and south america, since the illegal immigrants topic has been much more relevant, and yet, the movie still did ok in those markets, the reality is that superman underperforming was simply for the lack of interest in the movie, maybe also the lack of interest in superman himself as a character. people right now only care about supporting certain characters, they wanted to see deadpool and wolverine together and so, that movie broke a billion, but nobody cared about black captain america, the thunderbolts or F4, and that's what happened here. Everyone will show up once again for spiderman and for the avengers movies, but things like supergirl are certain flops at this point.

Batman as a character was only like a year old when Robin debuted.
Robin's more foundational to Batman than most of his other lore.

Incredibly vague. He was established, but back then the writers didn't really keep note of continuity all that much (Superman discovered Atlantis like 3 seperate times).
But it was still in the era where he mostly fought random mafia dudes rather than costumed supervillains.

Autistic nerd here. Post-Crisis (the only continuity and characterization that matters) Batman made his debut at 26 years old. Met Robin in Year 3 at 28 years old. Dick was about 12 years old. Bruce is only 16-20 years older than Dick. Their relationship is a mix between Father/Son and brothers.
