>Apoc preset has multi hit off. Apoc is the default
I was referring to people overruling half of the combat mechanics (at least every time I've played MP over the years) in my post's broader context of the playerbase tuning down the game. There was a period of maybe a month after the B41 relaunch where noobs ignorantly dropped into or made Apocalypse servers en masse and it was hilarious, then everyone learned about sandbox and turned shit like fence lunges off. Even with Louisville, loot respawn is still considered necessary.
>Few sprinters is also bullshit
They make the game more unpredictable but I suppose it's subjective. After thousands of hours I get no more fun from leading zombies back and forth while holding m1 and watching them fall backwards into that same pose, positioning and trying to scrape in and out of infested areas to scavenge is more engaging. Having a mod that fixes stealth (IE making it take basic lighting into account) does a lot to make higher zed pop or sprinters fun so you aren't just pic related 24/7.
>Raising the difficulty how? It won't be fun just more tedious because the core combat is very limited
There's Cryogenic Winter to supplant the underwhelming vanilla cold, Susceptible to make infection transmit through air without a mask, Bandits/Knox Event for raiders and/or hostile military and Darkness is Coming if you want more structure around sprinters. Sandbox lets you make helicopters a regular event, crank up alarms on houses and cars, set a permanent weather event etc.

I tried the CDDA zombies mod and didn't like it, but it was used in the general's server at one point. If you tried to shove certain zombies they'd automatically get a hit in or shove you backwards to the ground. I saw what it was going for getting the player to switch up and think about what they're doing, but in practice it was annoying for the reasons you said.
