>He looked around and realised that a good third of the bodies lying motionless were wearing red and gold armour, with bloody tear drops on their pauldrons.
>This refocused his attention and he looked around.
>He looked for her. To be standing among her fallen daughters. To be weeping for her mother. He looked for his angel.
>As his eyes darted around the sanctum, they fell on a group of red Astartes, stood in a circle.
>They did not move. They did not administer aid to collect geneseed. They simply stood, looking down at something.
>The Consort tentatively moved forward towards the group.
>He moved past the giants. Most had their helmets removed. They were all shaking to some degree.
>As he passed the final Blood Angel in his way he laid his eyes on Azkaella. She was kneeling, weeping, and inconsolable with grief.

>Her armour was buckled and had been rend open.
>Her wings were torn and bloody.
>Her face was cold and pale.
>Her beloved took her head into his arms, his whole world lying shattered on the throne room floor, as tears fell from his eyes.
