>The Battlefront 2 lore
I don't know why you even use it as an argument. Battlefront 2 was not really canon. It had 501st present literally everywhere, among other things, like feeling guilty about having to shoot Aayla Secura whilst standing right in front of her. It makes no sense. It was a good game, but I am baffled by the people who are adamant about taking the story of the game seriously. The EU itself could not agree on what Order 66 was: Battlefront 2 "consciously knew all along", that insane freak Traviss with her "totally legal order on the books one of 150", flash training, or some other excuse, depending on the work.
>loyal to the chancellor specifically
That's not what the movies showed. Because Chancellor of the Republic was never ever referred to as "lord". Hence it was not an order issued by the Chancellor of the Republic, but by Darth Sidious, and the clones were sleeper agents.
>While Clone Wars has it that they knew nothing until the day it happened when a phrase activated a chip in their brain and put them on evil mode.
That's what Episode III showed: Cody being heroic, friendly pal with Obi-Wan, giving him back his lightsaber, and then flipping into evil mode without a moment's hesitation, like a switch. And that's what Lucas showed again in Clone Wars series. Duh.
