If the whole character is onscreen, the easiest safety check is "does it have a human face?"
If yes - you're good. If no, probably not.
For partially offscreen partners it's a little tougher - keeping natural skin rather than fur is generally sufficient, though.
Pretty sure that completely disembodied genitalia are ok?
