Vtubing was born as an otaku hobby rooted in pure escapism, something that sells feelings, experiences, and a comforting illusion to lonely people. But it seems the West doesn’t understand this. In the West, they see Vtubers as just another form of cheap entertainment that offers anonymity. Yet few stop to ask a simple question: why do some people choose to watch a Vtuber instead of a traditional stream? Why do they prefer looking at a 2D model that adds a layer of abstraction to reality? It's rare to find a Vtuber in the West who truly understands this.
