The silver bullet critique which murders any argument about ER and fromsoft storytelling in general: where are the characters? Where is their growth, their reactions, their (lmao) humanity. Where are the expressions of joy, shows of camraderie, exposed shortcomings, etc. Fromsoft does nothing to flesh out its characters which is why the infamous zanzibart tweet was so effective. A historical record of supposed happenings (did they really happen, lol who knows?) is not a fleshed out lived in world built by its real inhabitants. Fucking Melina is by our side the whole game and uses the same intonation greeting us, telling us she had little faith in us but Torrent chose us, and while sacrificing her life to burn the Erdtree. The exact same monotone delivery in each distinct scene. Oblivious to the context of the events transpiring. The most charitable interpretation is every fromsoft character has crippling autism.
And yet they also made pic related and told a story through VA alone. Also sekiro was at least decent to even good characterization. Baffling company honestly.
