The last ghost specialist chapters are out now. That ending was absolutely rushed and shoved out the door early. Given the lackluster nature of the resolutions, they seem to scream aborted plots and the author losing interest in the story.

It's loosely implied to be because he travels with Gary as a deal with Oak or because he worked as a rancher, nothing to do with the league or the abandoned destiny bond subplot that was brought up earlier in the thread. The MC isn't even in the room when Ash gets his Pokémon; their only interactions were minor notes about the MC keeping Ash away from Oak's ranch because he was disturbing Pokémon. Gary also drives off with his cheer squad after getting his starter, so Ash doesn't even know they're traveling together.

Oak was the one who removed the Legendary pages from the book, and most of the MC's reaction/reading, besides the initial shock at having pages of legendary Pokémon, was offscreened with no further comment. No real follow-up or major reaction to Oak modifying the book, just shock before the chapter ends, followed by a timeskip to ranch work.

>Baiting lines about how the MC should keep an eye out for the Battle Frontier guy and Team Rocket. MC is also traveling Kanto with the Sableeye from early on in the fic, while his Trevenant is helping out his mom.
It's still a shit ending overall, but it's more obvious that he was trying to rush this shit out to a conclusion instead of just outright shitting the bed like his last fic.
