In my opinion, even if you think they were trying to push that message with these games, or even if they actually did, it doesn't mean you have to look at it that way. You can either agree with it or not. I just saw it as a situation specific to these characters, not something you should generalize.
Also RDR2 was about redemption, as the title implies. Arthur's redemption. John's revenge was there, sure, but it felt pretty natural and agreable and it didn't feel like it was portrayed as bad. They wanted you to want to kill Micah. Haven't played TLOU2 yet but i am guessing it makes sense there too, although i hear they did pull a Naruto at the end there.
