The important thing when drawing the side view is balance
I use what Michel Lauricella explains in his book (Morpho).
If you draw a vertical line, it should pass through the ear canal, in front of the shoulder, behind the pelvic joint and in front of the knee joint. The spine in the lumbar region will be in front of the line but will return afterwards to join the sacrum.
