It is best to think of psilocybin mushrooms as a nootropic.
>remedy for depression?
most depression is caused by poor habits, diet, and health choices. Exercise is the best cure for depression.
>If so, how'd you go about it and how successful were you?
it's not a narcotic. you can't get addicted. Its already decriminalized in most places. America only made it illegal to possess very recently.
>How would the treatment of mental disorders change if shrooms were federally legal in the US?
It's not a narcotic. It's not a fix for poor life choices. You can't take it everyday.

Some people do not respond well to psychedelics. My theory is people who are most capable of abstract thinking respond well to psychedelics particularly mushrooms. A person who is unable to understand where the origins of their thought come from and make a distinction between that and external stimuli is more likely to have a nervous breakdown. So I would keep it illegal and just do it anyway.
