on that knife sharpening grind (heh)

my AnySharp(TM) thing is a bit shite. don't know if i've fucked it somehow, i've watched videos and i'm definitely using it properly, it just doesn't magically make my knives ultra-sharp like it claims.

should i just get a sharpening steel? are they easy to use/get a feel for?
