The only difference is Owlcat usually lets you stack enough bonuses to alpha strike everything into submission before enemies can react
But that is also the most optimal way of playing BG3, E33, TES games with shit like 100% Resists/Chamelion etc.
And while some RPGs might not let you do that like SMT it doesn't change shit since the main difference is battles are lasting longer for the sole reason you can't one shot enemies in 1 turn through stacking enough actions/damage, yet it's not like they can kill you as well, you are basically also repeating the same shit forever at no risk of danger if you know what you are doing, except instead of doing it in 1 turn it takes 10+
Even the likes of Elden Ring can be instantly trivialized 5m in by just getting Endure and spamming it, or Shield + Spear
>b-but you don't have to do that
Yeah there's also nothing forcing you to spam Finest Hour and shit with Grand Strategist providing extra turns on turn 1 etc.
Go use the new Shields to tank and don't abuse Extra Turns if you want, the playstyle is there even if it's not the most "optimal" it still works just fine including on Unfair which is way more tolerable for ANY build/combo than PF Unfair
The only truly badly designed thing about the combat is the abundance of Extra Turn/Action/Attack stacking which can be avoided

>it DOES exist in other CRPGs
cRPGs have always been one of the easiest genres to break, especially the older ones where you can still use all sorts of extremely cheesy hyper consistent cheese to trivialize battles just fine, see webm and that's with SCS
Once again the main difference is that battles will last longer than 1 turn but that doesn't change the fact you will be mostly spamming the same thing while completely safe which is the same result as RT except taking longer
And usually the cRPGs that focus more on building are the easiest ones to break like Underrail due to all the absurdly overpowered shit you can eventually make
