i was well into the “soundcloud” scene before it went mainstream in like 2017. after 2017 i cant tell you how many Lil PharmaDrugName accounts i suddenly saw pop up. you know, Lil Pump clones with dyed dreadlocs, and the thing is these werent kids recording stuff on a handmedown laptop on a pirated FL studio, these kids had entire production teams seemingly within the first month of “popping off”. always with the same copy pasted back story
>yeah im lil so-and-so from miami / chicago and all my friends are drug addicts and dealers
>has a song with studio quality production and mixing as a first upload and zero history before that
>the artists themselves have a very sparse online history before seemingly coming out of nowhere with all this talent
i dont even remember half of the names or songs because they came and went. it was also a shit time in rap desu, the soundcloud era. they didnt take off enough for the shareholders i suppose. same with the hawk tua girl. where the fuck did she come from? how many clips of some drunk girl saying something sexy/stupid goes THAT viral? how many clips of that is out there that didnt go viral? what made her so special?
