>A: you’re talking to someone older than you
Boomers and older gen Xers past a cutoff point are idiots.
>B: “legacy media” would be media that left a legacy, not entire forms of media

You're older than me, on a /tv/ board, and you've never heard of the term of art "legacy media".
Okay boomer.
Media is the plural of medium. We're not talking about specific shows but the MEDIUM aka the distribution method.
The crux is whether the distribution method is centralized or decentralized.
Syndicated TV shows like you mentioned are entirely centralized. The companies fund and own the property, not the creators.
Legacy media is centralized. Non-legacy media is decentralized, for instance someone uploading their artwork to deviantArt but retaining full ownership of their artwork is an example of new media.
The internet as a whole used to be decentralized and so could as a whole be considered new media, but now that a handful of companies own the majority of websites hosts, digital distribution methods, and social media the internet itself has become a centralized legacy medium.
Millennials exist in niches and the periphery.
