They see us in ways that are completely different from our own perception. They exist outside of what we understand time and space to be. They see the potential we have, untarnished by whatever crust of disappointments and failures and self-deprecating stories we tell about ourselves. They want to do what they have always wanted to do, to cultivate the potential they see in us.
