I don’t hate the United States, it’s a good country all things considered. We are not the best we can be, but it’s still good

but I don’t like patriotism. It’s sad and pathetic. Being so patriotic shows that they don’t think too deeply about your internal biases and struggle with nuance. Just take things at face value. It’s not even a political thing because a lot of people on both sides of the aisle and patriotic and critical of this country

I grew up in the Midwest so it’s unavoidable
