This is probably where the superstition about black cats being evil come from: witches (real witches, not wicca larpers or cackling green-skinned hags stirring cauldrons) might own cats for the spiritual benefits they bring, and with black being the colour of death in Western thought, black cats were just unlucky: with the association with both witches and death, they never stood a chance

I love cats, not as much as I love dogs, but they're my second-favourite animal, they're intelligent, curious creatures that genuinely love the people that take care of them, please don't hurt them
