Much of the ambuscade armor has been powercrept but they're still very solid starter sets to get to +2 because of all the accuracy and some defensive stats. Some of the ambuscade weapons meanwhile still remain highly relevant and competitive. If you're looking for something checklisty for progression, getting your jobs' artifact, relic, and empyrean armor reforged & upgraded is typically always relevant. It varies from job to job but many of them see use still, if not in TP or WS sets plenty have utility to slap on when activating relevant job abilities. The empyrean reforged sets in particular become very solid gearsets once you do Sortie a bit to get them to +2. Lot of accuracy, attack, magic attack, some big chunks of Damage Taken -%... very handy for people who haven't or aren't able to yet do Odyssey bosses.
