Okay so as someone who has played smt on PS1 to completion and just enjoys that version of the game a lot, here's some advice since specifically the PS1 version if very poorly documented:
Basically the only stats that matter are agility, first and foremost, since you'll be missing your attacks constantly without it and vitality so your MC doesn't die.
The best strategy in SMT 1 and 2 are guns, they're so ridiculous when combined with status inducing bullets that it's not even funny, if you focus on agility, you always go first, your bullets always hit, and they're very likely to stun all of the enemy demons before they even get to attack, at which point you don't even need demons.
If you understand how to exploit this, SMT 1 is an absolute joke in terms of difficulty, I didn't die once during my playthrough.
It's also worth noting that you can steal from shops in SMT 1 and do so to earn infinite money, I've only seen this mentioned on one other place on the internet so I'll explain it quickly, when purchasing an item from a store, the shopkeeper will ask you how many you want, if you press down and circle at roughly the same time, it will say you're buying 0x of an item but it will still play the dialogue as if you're buying it for full price, you can then equip it straight away, but in reality you have paid 0 since the game thinks you bought none of that item.
You can immediately sell the item you stole to the shopkeeper for money to fund your trips to the healers.
Use this information how you will, I only ever fused or used demons as effectively punching bags during boss fights while i autobattled and occasionally had the heroine use a healing spell if necessary but to be honest I would have much rather had her just use a gun on her turns instead.
If you never summon demons, your magnetite will never be an issue and if you steal form shops the cost for summoning demons will never be an issue either.
