Small children literally do not have the ability to feel empathy before a certain age. I can break a graham cracker into two comically uneven pieces in front of a 4 year old and they will tell me to my face that the halves are even because their stupid monkey brains haven't developed the capacity to recognize that the pieces are not the same size. Why on earth would we draw any normative conclusions about how adult humans should act based on the behavior of infants?
