Also the time needed when I was in highschool was much less because there weren't 50,000 different potential matchups.
It's not really even a skill issue specifically because I'm not complaining about a skill problem. It's more about gameplay cohesion and at one point there's too many new bells and whistles for it to be called the same game. At one point it peaks, and there isn't anything they can do to make it less bloated.
Chess for example, hasnt had to add new pieces in order to sell new chess sets to justify their games continued existence. Nor has chess had to release a patch note to make the king more powerful than the queen because queen players wanted a day in the meta spotlight to sell more queen pieces.
Tf2 for example kept the mercenaries at a fixed decent number and let the weapon slots allow for more skill expression in the gameplay.
