Churches and their meeting places are one of the key targets of Marxists for two reasons: a key institution of the old regime and portrayed as the outlets of "the Opium of the people" Going back to where it all started: the French Revolution the same thing happened to the Catholic Churches: the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was turned first into an orgiastic temple and then into a stable. It is impossible for a Lefty/Marxist revolution to establish itself and start all over from Year ONE if it leaves the Religious institutions in place.
