Pax Ren is peak tabletop, but it's a real pain to teach well.
You either go for broad stroke and leave stuff out and then people stare at the card row like it's a black abyss or you teach the full game, corner-cases and all, and your teach encroaches on the game length itself. I'm getting better at teaching it, but for as good as it is, I've had a lot of people bounce hard off the their first game.
