you are seeing it wrong bwo
first year was about fall and rise (it was reversed tho) of goddess.
second year was about the last queen being born and the first queen being shown

Cinderella's wasn't chosen to be the 2.0 because she was the main villian in the 1.0. Her story and buildup started even before overzone was a thing (chapter 19, in that single note found about the Unchained) but that's another story.
My point is that each year we got a extra layer of plot that was shown in the half anni and was completed in the full anni. And this year was so far was kinda weird BUT thanks to the next chapters name we can think a few schizo theories.

The subplot that, to me, started last year tho, is how heretics are made. You can say that we already saw that with Cinderella but there's a difference between being made and being chosen to be a heretic, like Red Shoes said, only those selected by the Queen can become heretics.
Jien said there's a reason why Raptures and Nikkes cores can work "connected"
Nihilister (and Rapi) mentioned that the process to create a Nikke and to create a Heretic.
But why none of the 4 beasts are like that? Because they were not chosen by the Queen. They were simply made heretics by fate
>CHAPTER 39: The gene that shakes destiny
You already knew about the potential of the Unchained, being able to "Liberate" the Nikkes. But being able to evolve a heretic with your blood? Why would your blood do that? This also makes you wonder how the the offsprings were actually made. The connection between Abe's creation, Siren's Spindrift (the bubbles) and the Dark Matter / the corruption and your blood...

>CHAPTER 40: A choice to move forward, despite being lost
Siding with the heretics will be major news in the Ark soon...but who knows, maybe that's the only way

>>TL DR
We're going to see how the Four Beasts "assembled" as a group and as heretics (it has a double meaning btw, that's the "joke")
