In the 90s they tried to replace Peter. Everyone hated it, shat on it, and Marvel course corrected but kept Ben Reilly on as a side character and eventually brought him around to peoples' good graces.
In the mid 2010s, Marvel tried to replace Peter again. Everyone hated it, shat on it, but Marvel instead doubled down and hid behind racism deflections and went out their way to make Peter look bad, shit on completely in every possible way they can, and try and make their new pet Spider-Man the best new thing ever in hopes that the old guard will die off and leave only the kids who grew up with Miles as Spider-Man.
Also miLes getting an episode before Ben or Spider-Man Noir is embarassing. I don't even really care about Deku, I just want Peter Darker to die again. He's nothing but an annoying leech on Marvel as an IP and all their worst stories in modern times involve him in some way or another.
