The problem is the pacing. There's a LOT of time spent on simple gags and not actual fighting, and the fighting itself is just...whatever. The first 40 seconds is nothing but really slow scientific naming gags, the war scene takes 30 seconds and two attacks are thrown during it (one is Wile setting up a useless catapult and the other is a basic bitch invisibility potion), it takes them 30 more seconds to actually even get to the super speed Tom scene, they just copy the Wile painting a tunnel on a mountain gag nearly 1:1, they do the lamest 4th wall break ever, and then they just hit each other a few times and it ends.

The best part of the fight is the start of it where they're using gadgets and actually attacking each other and it feels like it's escalating, and then it just slowly fizzles out and pans out to be extremely unsatisfying.

There's a reason why everyone remembers his "I want to save Shigaraki" moment, it's not just because of Hori's fetish with victimizing criminals, it's because that choice AT LEAST is something unique and bold
I would have respected Deku if he at least took the hard path and decided to try save the most dangerous villain in the world despite all the odds being against him...
But that doesn't happen, he fights normally, fucks over Shigaraki's soul, and in the end AFO kills Shigaraki and takes over, giving Deku the perfect moral excuse to blast him off to the stone age, so in the end he just goes through all the Shounen MC motions without a strong character core, motivations, or development.
