Is modern day setting fantasy doomed to always be angsty alt-slop with vampires and hidden parallel worlds or are there different viable takes on it?
Even calling it urban fantasy sets the expections for a certain type of game, but some of the potential alternatives like bright or gate simply suck for various reasons.

It feels like there should be a potentially fun mix of supernatural and modern day elements, but I've never seen it done well.
