I made a GIF out of the Google Doodle drawn for Kanō Jigorō's 161st birthday. It features the story of kata guruma. Dr. Kano was having trouble throwing a skilled and particularly large training partner and kept scouring books for new approaches until he discovered American exceptionalism and adapted the fireman's carry from wrestling into one of the 40 official Kodokan judo throws.
