Gotou is such a wallpaper character, iirc he doesn't even have any male friends either. Paisen makes more sense because his weakness is the reason for bullying (initially) so it works in the story. Another bullshit romcom that works is Hitomi chan, that one has both characters be incredibly awkward, and they only just kinda happened to fall for each other. The main girl isn't an aggressively proactive slut, she's an in-universe normie, just awkward and weird because of her height and looks.
The fact that this cosplay manga is drawn by a woman makes it even more annoying, its like she can't stop herself from gaslighting men even in manga.
