The whole 'I'm not going to kill you but I don't have to save you' from Batman Begins was also good. If that's how Batman was portrayed (and it is how he's portrayed sometimes, he's almost a century old after all) that would be fine. But instead you get Batman leaping to do mouth to mouth to revive Joker after he just got done nearly destroying the entire planet and probably killing millions. Make it make sense.
