Because they are faggot nerds (Redditors say the same "donor cycle" shit). Fag nerds spend their whole lives with feelings of inferiority, and using their mildly above-average intelligence to rationalize inaction instead of doing something to fix themselves. It's the same thing as "lifters are meatheads", "starting a business is pointless", "chad gets the girls", etc.

Every single thing you said is true. If you don't get drunk, wear gear and take a riding course, your chances of serious injury or death drop drastically. The fags don't care, they just want to criticize. 4chan gets off too easy for being "based" and "honest", when most of the time it's really just a hall of mirrors for socially-stunted men.

No offense, but your MTB experience is only loosely relevant

Go find an in-person coach for dirt bikes/moto (check out US Motorcycle Coaching Association). Tell them your goal is to ride moto and you want to build up to it. Riding a dirt bike extremely well is the first step before you can actually ride an MX track competently; don't get the order twisted and start on a track. YOU SHOULD HAVE PERFECT SEATED/STANDING POSITION AND MASTERY OF ALL CONTROLS BEFORE YOU TOUCH A TRACK.

For a bike, I'd recommend a 250f or a 125 2T MX bike. Do not buy a 450 MX bike. 250cc 2T's and 350cc 4T's can also be started on but they're going to be harder to handle. Also understand there IS a difference between a motocross bike and an offroad/enduro bike; the latter usually has suspension that will be too soft on large jumps, may handle terribly in whoops/rhythm sections, might have a wider ratio gearbox that is fussy on a track, etc. That said, I've ridden 300cc 2T (KTM XC) woods bikes on track before with a suspension tune so it can be done.

Make sure you at least set the sag on the bike, and have the suspension tuned for your weight/skill level. Suspension DOES matter in MX. Use a national-level tuner, not some yocal goober. Maintain the bike perfectly; it'd be stupid to die on a jump face because you skipped maintenance.

BUY GEAR. Buy the nicest helmet you can afford, don't rock some $200 Fox or Bell piece of shit. Alpinestars SM10, Arai, etc. Buy a chest protector, leg protection, etc. BUY GOOD BOOTS, and break them in. Yes, you can't feel the brake lever/shifter. Train more and you'll adapt.

DO NOT learn from white trash track fucktards. Tracks are full of them, and they'll make fun of you for wearing gear, staying within your comfort zone, having maintained shit, etc. MX is full of these retards, don't fall in with them. Ignore the douchey/cocky attitude in MX, 99% of people with it aren't shit and won't ever be shit anyway.

And of course, have fun!
